Five a Day

How To Track Your Child's Daily Diet

What are the ‘5-a-day’ and how you can track them in your child’s daily diet.

The quality and quantity of food you offer your child as part of their daily diet is crucial for balanced nutrition. Healthy growth and development are critical in the early years as they set the foundation for an individual’s health later on.

Maintaining variety in your child’s meals keeps them interesting and full of flavor. It is also important to make sure they consume diverse foods as each ingredient has a unique combination of nutrients—both macronutrients (carbohydrate, protein, and fat) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals)—which contribute to well-rounded nutrition and healthy growth.

For a balanced diet the recommended daily servings are:

  1. 5 servings of fruits and vegetables
  2. 5 servings of grains
  3. 4 servings of protein
  4. 2 ½ servings of dairy

It’s important for children to eat four to five portions of fruits & vegetables daily; Maggi’s Sweet Corn and Chicken Kids Soup provides one out of the five daily portions needed.

Here’s a great example to get you started and help you include all 5 portions of fruits and vegetables in a day’s meal plan.
